I have been going to see TracyV at this location for 3-4 years. She does such a great job every time. It doesn't matter how simple or complex the design is, she gets it done. I couldn't go with anyone else. Seriously! Go book with her for your next appointment. Drive across the city if you have to. She's amazing. Photos attached are some of the designs we've done over the years.

Update: the owner and I communicated vie email and she gave me a full refund for what I paid in person plus the value of my gift card. Changing my rating from 1 star to 3 stars.

Definitely would not recommend going to this location or wasting your money. I had a not-so-good experience at the salon yesterday. The lady who did my nails was super nice, but the quality was no better than what I can do myself at home. My toes already have chipped polish even though I got the magic polish. In addition, when she was doing my hands, the polish was so thick and uneven. When she was close to finishing and about to do the design on my ring finger, I asked her to put another coat because the colour was uneven and lumpy. I also noticed that there was an indent on my thumb as she went to finish - she added another coat but it looks terrible. When I was leaving, the receptionist told me my total. I then proceeded to give her a 25% off code that was handed out to residents in the area. She took it without saying a word. I then asked if I could use the washroom when I was done and she completely ignored me. She told me my new total and I gave her a $50 gift card I had gotten for christmas. She took it and rolled her eyes at me like I was inconveniencing her… I asked her again if I could use the washroom which she, then again, ignored me and told me my new total. I ended up giving a $2 tip but still feel like it wasn’t worth it. Once I got to my car, I saw how uneven my polish is, with tons of polish all over my hands and nails. I’m very disappointed I wasted my $50 gift card and my own money on a service that does not look professionally done.

My experience at this salon was alright. The staff were friendly. There were a few things I was confused by. I came in with a group of 3 others and all of them were getting the same service as me all of the got cuticle care and when their polish was put on it didn’t look over grown like mine in the picture. I’m not sure why but my lady did nothing with my cuticles leaving a big gap with an overgrown look. This was really disappointing because these were my wedding nails. I’m not sure why I was the only one in my group that didn’t get the same manicure treatment. And then when it came time to remove the extensions and polish I was charged $10 and the others were only charged $5. I don’t understand why mine cost more when we all had the same service. Almond bar is a good concept but this is not the first time I’m had troubles just a different location. I’m giving them a 3 star because it could have looked worse I just don’t understand why I was treated different.

Me & my friends have been a loyal customer of Almond Nails Plessis for quite some time now, and I’ve always had great experiences - especially with Sarah. Every time I went to her, my nails turned out absolutely stunning as she understood exactly what I wanted without me even needing to explain much.

However, yesterday experience has left me extremely disappointed and frankly, upset. When I came I was assigned to Nandini & from the start, it was not a pleasant experience. When she was filing them my nails were hot, and they hurt to the point that it was a bodily reaction to retreat my hands.

But the worst part was the design. The quality of her artwork was shockingly poor. I kept showing my friends throughout the appointment just to make sure I wasn’t overreacting - and every time, she confirmed I wasn’t being unreasonable. So, I politely asked her to redo the designs. Unlike my friend’s nail artist, Jessica, who was patient and so so kind, Nandini visibly showed her annoyance and even said, “Even if I redraw them, they’ll look the same as now.” I was honestly speechless.

And to top it all off, I was charged an extra $15 because, according to her, the price she initially quoted was based on how long she thought it would take - but it took longer because I “asked her to redraw multiple times”. Apparently, that was my fault. So essentially, I had to pay more because she didn’t deliver acceptable work the first time? Mind you, I asked from the start if she thinks she can do yhe design, if not I’m very open to changing design. I don’t even know what to say to that. Should I have just accepted bad work and called it a day?

In the end, I paid over $120 and still tipped her, but I walked out feeling so frustrated and upset. Her attitude throughout the appointment was unbelievable - as if I was the one being unreasonable for simply asking for something that looked decent.

Later, I found out my other friend actually went to Almond a week before me - and guess what? She had Nandini too. Her experience was equally bad. Her simple cat-eye gel nails came out bumpy, uneven, and crooked. At least I paid extra to have my nails brought to a somewhat acceptable level - she didn’t even get that.

I’ve always loved Almond Nails on Plessis & I constantly refer friends there. But this huge discrepancy in skill and attitude among the nail techs is honestly alarming. Now it’s starting to feel like a gamble every time I come in. The nail techs who have consistently delivered both great service and great results in our experience are: Sarah, Chloe, Tracy, Jessica, and Oksana. They’re absolutely absolutely amazing.

After this, I feel like I have to double-check who I book with every time - which is frustrating, because I used to trust this place without thinking twice.
