Blush Me Lash & Nail Bar

I’ve been coming to Blush Me since they opened. This is where I met my regular nail girl who has since opened her own studio. I don’t come here for manicures anymore but still come every couple months for a pedicure and often bring my fiancé. We are usually quite happy with our experience. I also really like the online booking service as not a lot of salons have that, and the salon looks great inside which is an added bonus. I previously would have given them 5 stars, but my last two experiences here were awful.

My regular nail girl recently went on a long vacation so I booked 2 nail fills and a pedicure at Blush Me in the last month while she was away. My first nail fill was not great… I usually get fairly simple short square gel with shellac overlay. I got a milky white colour which I know can be tricky as it is not opaque… They ended up doing 3 layers which looked a bit chunky for my liking. The tech also didn’t paint close enough to my cuticles so they honestly already looked a week grown out when I left, and the shape was wonky. I ended up reshaping them myself at home and was unhappy but I didn’t have any events and I was getting them redone in a couple of weeks so I just left it. My 2nd appointment was booked with a different tech.

I had booked my second appointment weeks in advance for 11:30 on a Saturday morning. When I got there, they were very busy with several people waiting. I wasn’t seen until after 11:45, which was annoying but they were apologetic and I was not in a rush so I didn’t mind.

As I was getting my nail fill, it was apparent my gel had lifted a bit on a couple of nails, so the gel on those nails had to be removed. I very rarely have lifting— but this seemed pretty bad… so I wondered if it was because of the poor job they did last time I was there.

The tech removed the gel by wedging a plastic nail tip between my nail and gel, and then used a cuticle trimmer to grab the lifted part and PEEL IT OFF. I’ve been getting my nails done for over a decade and I can tell you, that is NOT the proper way to remove gel. You do NOT peel it off. I was mortified. The gel that was reapplied then burned SO bad under the UV light, probably because my natural nail underneath was so damaged from the peeling.

Then when applying the colour, they did a sloppy job. I had picked a more opaque colour this time but it was still going on streaky. The shape is better than last time… but the polish is pooled around some cuticles and on the skin around my nail. This could have been avoided if they took the time to clean up the polish with an orange stick before curing it under the light. At this point I had basically sat through the whole thing so I didn’t want to say anything and have them redo it and have to stay sitting even longer.

We then moved on to the pedicure was just as bad. The tech got polish on my feet and even on my ANKLE. I do not understand how they can be so sloppy. To remove the polish they got on my foot, they used a nail buffer and just scraped it off the skin. When I got home, there was still polish on the skin.

The techs were super nice both times— and I feel bad being negative because they seem like good people. But at the end of the day, my nails don’t look professionally done.

I didn’t say anything when I was there because I honestly just wanted to leave after being there for almost 2 hours. I paid my $120 and got out. I previously would have recommended this salon but after my last 2 experiences it isn’t up to my standards anymore. I do know that some specific techs here are amazing but I can’t speak from personal experience to tell you who to go to so unless you know the work of the tech, I would avoid this place.

Very disappointed with my nails but also how I was treated.

Context: I have been here so many times and loved this place previously. I brought all my friends, family, daughter, every special event to get my mom’s nails done.

I got my nails done and they were pretty thin (I wasn’t aware how thin) after they took off the previous gel set. They put on a shellac nail on top of my nails and sent me on my way.

Then all my nails break within days of getting them done and very far down into my nail. So I reach out and they say I should’ve put a gel coating on top to let them grow out (I wasn’t aware this was a thing). The gel coating would go underneath the polish. This would prevent breaking and keep my nails looking nice and generously offered to cover that except for the $10 for the gel. I thought that was fair and that would be the end of it but it wasn’t.

I went in, they were basically trying to low key make fun of me and laugh at me for not knowing that I needed a gel coat. I didn’t know I needed it as I’m not a nail tech and if the nail tech told me I needed in the first place I would’ve done it. They didn’t mention how thin my nails were in the first place or what I needed to keep them strong.

They were condescending and I was trying not to cry the whole time with how they treated me. I’m not trying to be dramatic, that’s just how I felt. I felt dumb and I’m pretty sure they were making comments about me the whole time. He also tried to get me to pay without knowing the options the owner/manager gave me or tried to take off all polish and just leave me with no nail polish even though I had already paid for it.

Then the owner or manager followed up after they fixed my nails, I let them know I was hesitant to even respond as I don’t want to make a huge deal and that I was grateful for my nails feeling and looking great again, but I felt awful and was embarrassed to admit I was trying not to cry because of how they made me feel.

No response.

I will no longer be going here which is sad because it’s my favorite and so close to where I moved.

I would never feel comfortable going into a place that made me feel like that and then when I brought it up, dismissed me and didn’t respond. I guess it proved what I was feeling about how they treat people.

I didn’t mention anything about language because they were speaking English they just were far away while my nails were in the UV thing. That was unnecessary and an unfortunate assumption.

You charged me $10 which I have uploaded the receipt.

My nails got done on Jan 6th and by Jan 16th all my nails were broken. See pictures.

If someone comes to my job, and they don’t know their options or the best foot forward, I volunteer that information so I can educate them to make the right decision for them. It’s part of the expertise.

You have further proved my point that it’s not about the people, your response was trying to make me seem silly and that my frustrations weren’t really valid. Thank you for solidifying what I thought and felt.

I recently had my lashes done. Poor quality for $120, they look like my regular lashes. Tape was used under my eyes, 10 different solutions were used all over my eyes before even starting. I was laying there for a half hour before she even started. Result is very disappointing. They look like a child put them on. Ive had cheaper, way more professional looking lashes done. Stick to the nails. Do not recommend getting lashes done here

You can say what you will to try and justify your poor service and quality, but my experience is what matters and the whole situation was a waist of time and money. The lashes came off with in hours. I went to a professional to take the rest off and she asked me "Was this person just starting?" The lashes weren't even placed on the base of my lashes. The process was too much. No one has THAT oily eyes that you need to coat them with 100 different solutions. Did I mention the tape? TAPE!!
Bottom AND top of my eyes. My face was pinch taking it off with tweezers.
The technicians are not experienced and you are over priced. Stick with nails.
