This review will be lengthy, but I encourage you to read it. I contacted the salon on August 28 around noon to check for availability for blonde highlights at 1:30 PM, as I was in the area. The stylist agreed to fit me in between clients, which I thought would be manageable. He started my appointment at 1:30 PM, which was great since I had other commitments at 5 PM. He recommended balayage, and trusting his expertise, I agreed.
He began with foils but removed them after 15-20 minutes, leaving the color on to process. Unfortunately, it became clear that he was overwhelmed, as he was the only one working and had booked more clients than he could handle. Had I known how busy he was, I would have scheduled for another day. I mentioned my 5 PM commitment, and he assured me he’d do his best. I ended up leaving the salon at 5 PM, rushed and without a chance to inspect my hair. He asked if I wanted a haircut which I kindly declined as I was in a rush and wasn’t aware it was a package.
When I received the bill of $370, I was taken aback, as I’ve never spent over $250 on hair services, even with top stylists. The next morning, I noticed significant yellow/orange tones and unevenness near the roots. I contacted him immediately to request a correction. He agreed, and I returned on Friday. However, his comments were unsettling. He said things like, “I honestly think it looks fine,” “This is more of an ombre look” (which is different from balayage), “You won’t be walking around holding your hair up,” and “What you see on Instagram is usually just the top layer.” Such remarks are not what I expected from a professional.
I asked him to fix it, though he seemed displeased. He asked his colleague to handle the correction which was to blend in the roots and add a toner, I was there for another 2.5 hours. He came by to cut my hair, which was included in the price. He appeared irritated and eager to finish. His colleague blow-drying my hair noticed uneven layers around my face, and when she asked him to address it, he replied that it was fine but agreed to fix it. Ultimately, he did fix it but left abruptly without any acknowledgment.
Overall, the quality of service relative to the price was disappointing. I won’t be returning.
Update:
Thank you for editing your initial response which seemed more sincere.
Thank you for your call on September 30th, Iman. I appreciate your apology. I mentioned that my previous hairdresser set a high standard, which may be difficult to meet. I am sorry I didn’t take your $150 refund offer to remove my review; it just didn’t feel right to me. A complimentary service was never proposed, and even if it were, I wouldn't have accepted it. I believe in being fair and giving people chances, as we all have off days.
When I returned for a correction, it was an opportunity to address the situation. Hady couldn’t have known I left satisfied when he left so abruptly.
The pictures I shared are captioned, first one was after the first visit and the other three are after the correction. You can clearly see this as the roots are more blended.
I never intended to harm your business, and if I did, I apologize. I encourage you to focus on your many 5-star reviews while learning from the less favorable ones.
