Evolve Strength Sunridge is a solid gym with a great location, especially if you’re working nearby. It has all the basic equipment you need—turf, racks, machines—but the space feels a bit cramped and under-equipped compared to Royal Oak or Seton. Once you’ve been to those, especially Seton, you’ll realize it’s a night-and-day difference. The layout, vibe, and equipment quality are just way better there.
Staff here are mostly great—I’ve had good convos with some of them—but the front desk guy kind of kills the vibe. He enforces the indoor shoe rule with this passive-aggressive energy that really rubs people the wrong way. I get the rule, and I usually follow it, but forgetting my shoes once in a while shouldn’t feel like I committed a felony. When I first signed up, I didn’t know about the rule, and his “it says on the page” response just came off rude.
After contemplating, if making the 20 minute trip was worth it down south after the passive aggressive interactions, I made the switch to Seton, and I’ve never looked back. The staff there are super chill, the space is beautiful, and the equipment is high-end and well-maintained. Even though it’s a 20-minute drive, it’s 100% worth it. They let you work out in peace without the passive-aggressive energy. If you can make the trip, I’d strongly recommend going to Seton instead.
It sucks because I really wanted to give it a higher rating, but just that one person can definitely ruin the whole vibe. (BTW I’ve been coming here for a couple of weeks. It wasn’t just a one day trip)
