This place is really nice. Well maintained, friendly staff, very reasonable prices.
Pool is great for kids, adults and seniors. Excellent workout facility with treadmills, elliptical machines etc. Sport fields out back.

This is a great rec center! Hot tub has good jets, the steam room is good and hot! The sauna isn't the greatest unfortunately. I love that there is a cold shower on pool deck for contrast hydrotherapy and cool down.

The pool isn't huge, but it's a decent size.

There's a swirlpool and kids area.

Overall great space. ?

The steam room is WAY too hot. You cannot stay in there for more than 2 minutes before gasping. I asked staff several times if the heat could be lower but nothing changes. I have heard comments from other patrons about the heat. Its not just me.

The gym is fantastic - 2 levels, lots of machine options. However one of the on duty attendants often laughs extremely loud and this is quite distracting.

Several lockers I put money into don't work & I lose my quarters. I'm forced to walk out to reception my bathing suit for a refund where there is frequently a line up. Not fun.

The change room floors are dirty with hair and debris. More cleaning is required.

I wouldn’t recommend going here for your NL.

I took a previous class there and it was fine. But my final instructor, “Jackie” made things difficult. I constantly asked for feedback on my work to improve and didn’t get much of a response. We had to rush through our last days of class, so there were two active lifeguards for our final test. We had to treat it where the other person wasn’t there and that it was only one lifeguard on duty.

It was so disorganized, when an “emergency” showed up. First responder normally gets it. But would change depending on the instructors choice when both lifeguards arrive at the same time. This test is supposed to be for each person as an individual. While one did assessments and the other on watch. The instructors attention would shift between both and would miss small important details each lifeguard was doing. Which would result in loss of points because the instructor didn’t see it with their own eyes.

I had to request a re-test because I felt my assessment was unfair. I contacted a guy to get my application in for a re-test. They agreed and said that they would get official lifeguards, equipment and volunteers ready for my re-test. Including someone from Vancouver to come make sure that the test was fair.

When I arrived, I met two lifeguards that weren’t from the facility. I was told that the facility didn’t get any volunteers to help me. So they asked me to get them myself. My family and friends came along to help me with my test. I had to show every scenario to them, instead of just one like in their official lessons. I ended up having to do fake CPR on one of the official lifeguards as a scenario. I looked at both of the instructors on what to do CPR on (because nothing was prepared for me by them). You’re not supposed to do real CPR on someone who’s breathing fine. They normally test you on the position and how deep your pushes are for CPR. The instructor from Vancouver pointed at a green pool noodle beside me to do my training on.

One of my family members noticed something while I was doing CPR. That the instructor from Vancouver would space out a lot. There was a time where she was just staring at my family that was in the hot tub and made them uncomfortable. Not even looking at what I was doing.

Their reasoning for not passing me again was that I “let” someone with an allergic reaction stab the EpiPen in to their knee. How the scenario went was that I noticed it happening. So I did a clear out of the pool or told another lifeguard to take over. They were still responsive, so I asked if they wanted me to use the EpiPen or if they preferred to do it themselves (some consent thing that was brought up in the class). They nodded and grabbed the EpiPen from me and hit their knee. This was a friend who was quite younger than me. Could have not known how to use it properly for the scenario.

I later on found out on their website. The three people I contacted, the guy to re-test, the girl from Vancouver and the girl from the facility. They all knew each other.

I’d suggest Sannich for an NL test.
