I decided I wanted to take the plunge and chop off all my hair, something I've wanted to do for easily fifteen years but never had the confidence to do it. I'm so, so glad I went with Zoe! She was so supportive and enthusiastic about my going for such a big change and made it the most fun and comfortable experience. We took our time and she checked in with me repeatedly as we got shorter and shorter. I'd never dared to go above my shoulders before and now I'm feeling amazing with shaved sides and just a few inches on top! My cut also didn't take as long as I had booked and Zoe only charged me for the time we spent - I really appreciated it! I'm happily going to recommend her to anyone who wants a great short cut.

Trying a new salon can always be a little scary but I had the best time at Role Play and it's so incredible to be in a safe queer & trans space. Zoe saved my hair and gave me the best cut I've ever had -- gender euphoria way up!!!

I went to see Zoe today to get a quasi-mullet for my very curly hair. I couldn't have asked for a better experience! She was incredibly attentive and made sure that I got the exact cut and style that I was looking for, and it was like she read my mind! She was professional, personable, skilled and knowledgeable. I would absolutely recommend anyone with curls to go give her a visit, you won't regret it! :)

Zoe is sharp, intuitive, and incredibly skilled. She knows exactly how to shape a cut that brings out the best in you—and she hypes you up the whole time. Every appointment feels like a reset, in the best way. She creates a space where you’re not just getting a haircut—you’re being seen, cared for, and sent back into the world feeling more confident and more like yourself.

James took full creative lead on my colour and absolutely delivered. I trusted him completely, and he exceeded every expectation. His attention to detail, artistic vision, and passion made the whole experience feel exciting and transformative. The final look felt like a real upgrade—something I didn’t even know I needed until I saw it in the mirror.

I just had such a wonderful experience at Role-Play Studio, I had to write a review right away. Not all salons are created equal (some I find quite cold and isolating), so I was pleased to feel welcomed as soon as I stepped into the studio. The atmosphere was friendly, conversational, comfortable and cozy. James is an engaging, entertaining, and talented stylist and really listened to what I wanted. I LOVE my colour and cut, it's truly gorgeous, but it's the fabulous staff and overall climate that will guarantee I'll return soon.
